Here at Mimoun, we deeply care about the environment we live in. We want to be a part of solution to millions of tonnes of litter that end up in oceans, beaches, forests and elsewhere in nature. On May 14th 2017, Mimoun team and our friends from The Olive Tree School had honor and great pleasure to participate in Clean-Up Day in Sitges. 44 volunteers collected 240 kg of plastic on the beaches of Sitges, southwest of Barcelona!
The action was a part of Let’s Clean Up Europe day, campaign taken simultaneously throughout Europe to raise awareness about the amount of uncontrolled waste we dump in nature and the importance of waste prevention and waste reduction.
In Sitges, clean-up was organized by the Office of Education and Environmental Promotion of the Management of Environmental Services of the Diputació de Barcelona from the Center of Sea Studies (CEM). Some of the collected plastics, cleaned and classified at the CEM, will form part of the installation that will be exhibited in the patio of the Cultural Center Edifici Miramar during Sitges Corpus 2017 and the Festival of Art and Recycling Sitges ReciclArt 2017.
